2013With the 2013 Super Bowl coming up on February 3rd, you may be planning a Super Bowl Party Menu. If so, you probably already have some supplies on hand if you are intending on hosting a get together.
Hopefully you’re considering a variety of offerings that might include some bean based dips you can whip up yourself, or maybe an eggplant dip, or possibly even doing up a homemade healthier pizza option that is easy and FAST to make.

A little planning ahead will make putting together any Super Bowl Party that much easier.

2012Do you remember hearing or reading about the First Ever White House Kids State Dinner (actually a luncheon) served on August 20, 2012?
A blog post of that date focused on the event since we feel the entire Let’s Move campaign being supported by First Lady, Michelle Obama, is such a great idea!
The entire Healthy Lunchtime Challenge culminating in that White House Kids State Dinner event was a collaborative effort involving a number of partners.
It involved a wide range of staff, including from the Let’s Move campaign, the White House, the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Education, and Epicurious Magazine.

The “appetizer” for the actual White House luncheon event was a super simple Kale Chips recipe originally submitted by one of the 54 winning junior chefs, Samuel Wohabe, age 9, from the state of New York.
Kale Chips could prove to be a great anytime snack, so since this is back-to-school time and cooler weather is either in your area or might be coming to it, we thought this would be a great time to mention about various kale chip recipes that can be found all over the world wide web.

2012Continuing on with our “Think Red” series to encourage wiser food choices that can contribute to heart health, today’s blog post is not just about beans and heart health. We’d like to also mention the larger family that beans belong to as well.
Various beans can actually be quite heart healthy, depending upon exactly how they are prepared and what other ingredients they are combined with. Most people are familiar with red kidney beans, although there are many other beans, which belong to a larger family called “pulses” and include a wide range of naturally nutritious offerings. 2011Italian families typically love eggplant dishes, and tend to be quite fond of pine nuts as well.
It turns out that combining eggplant with pine nuts is a perfect start for creating an appetizer to enjoy year round, and it can be quite delicious during the winter holidays.
